Deadloch TV Series

Australian Crime Comedy Series
Deadloch is a wickedly funny Australian crime-comedy series created by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan. The story begins in a quiet Tasmanian town where the discovery of a man’s body brings two very different detectives together: calm, meticulous local officer Dulcie Collins and loud, chaotic investigator Eddie Redcliffe. What follows is a clever murder mystery filled with dark humour, suspicious locals and plenty of unexpected twists.
The series is particularly refreshing for its strong cast of complex, funny and unapologetically queer women. Lesbian characters and relationships are woven naturally into the story, while the programme playfully turns many familiar crime-drama stereotypes on their heads. Kate Box and Madeleine Sami are brilliant as the mismatched detectives, whose constant clashes gradually develop into a hugely entertaining partnership.
With two seasons now available, Deadloch combines a genuinely gripping mystery with sharp feminist humour, colourful characters and some gloriously outrageous moments. It is dark, clever, sweary and wonderfully lesbian - making it an excellent choice for the Fantastic Lesbians’ next television binge.
